Search Results: bothers me that my friends are dating

I have liked Jack for 3 years. He liked me too (dk about now). I was not ready to be involved affectionately emotionally or sexually with anyone. We did date for a while but I was not ready for dating so I faded. I understand now that is very bad way to do it, though I did not do that because it was convenient I just did not want to bother him. I thought any 'talk' would just be annoying.

We are friends now -sort of- I am becoming tentatively interested in dating , and I still like him A LOT, so i thought I would ask him out casually just to see where he is at. I do not see any reason to have a 'talk' because if he wants anything he would say yes to hanging out, and if he is not interested in anything, I see no reason in making both of us uncomfortable by raising anything. I think this is sound logic-- but correct me if i am wrong.

I asked him if he wanted to go to an open concert. They hold them regularly and i know he goes on occasion. He was a bit deer in the headlights , so i waited patiently... nothing. He just stood there then said he was not sure of his schedule. I basically took this as not being interested because after the shock wore off and even with his -maybe real excuse but possibly a lie - he did not say yes. Nor did he make any attempt to suggest another time. I said no worries, then he said he did not mean he was not interested, BUT i took this more as him feeling bad not him feeling interested. I shrugged and walked off.

No hard feelings, we continued talking as friends. One day he was acting funny, which i noticed but did not understand. We were walking from campus and he took a detour and we unexpectedly ended up at an outdoor concert. I could then see why he was acting funny and i understood this was a kind of plan, I felt weird about it.

1 I still liked him and wanted to hang out.

2. I felt uncomfortable he had not bothered to ask-I could not take him seriously, how much could it matter to him if he never asked.
