I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts about the topic of choosing who to date, marry & have kids with. And it’s fascinating cause supposedly it’s more to what the world perceives as the “perfect man” or “perfect woman” some of it has to do with your genetics. For example, in most cases females choose to be with men that share qualities that their father’s have. And they were saying that this is because of the fact that they share the genetic makeup of their mothers as well so what their mother found attractive in their father they seek those same things in men...

Aside from that though, they didn’t say that was 100% legitimate but studies have suggested it.

Also that people choose their partners based on certain qualities they lack. Being physical or personality traits.

For example is why most but not all women would rather marry and have children with a tall, strong man vs the opposite of that. Especially if they are short and tiny.

It’s all about the chance of the child surviving and thriving after procreation. But what’s insane is that in a now modern and civilized world we never think of this. But it’s a natural way of thinking that has been embedded into our dna for centuries

Biologically men want to take lead and protect in a relationship. Not every dynamic is set out to be this way, but generally this is what biology brings us to. It makes us feel masculine when we provide and are needed, so I can understand that a women who's completely self-sufficient emotionally, and financially could make men feel insignificant.

But I believe the bigger problem with these self proclaimed independent women is they have this attitude that they don’t need any man. I’d personally like to be feel wanted in a relationship and I’d like to feel like a priority. Also a lot of these types of women are often offputting, because to get to these higher positions, they often have to take on traits of a man. I’m personally attracted to feminine women. Not hyper-aggressive and bitchy women who think that being rude is the only way to make it in the world.

I’ve always dated successful women. My two most serious relationships at least. One was a nurse and the other was an accountant. They were both feminine and didn’t have masculine personalities. They also didn’t sit on this throne screaming at the world that they’re independent lol. This is why it never bothered me.

I'm just sort of sick of seeing questions on here of women claiming that they are too intimidating to us because they make 60k a year lol. We aren't. We're just off-put by your lack of willingness to prioritize a relationship and your masculine personality. If anything, it would be nice to have a woman to be able to pay her own shit once in a while. I know I'd certainly appreciate that. So long story short, it's not your money or your job. It's you.

My Opinion:
In dating men are more visual and tends to go for beautiful women, while women tends to go for average or ugly men. In theory women are more picky than men because pregnancy is a lot of work and impregnation aren't - evolutionary. Good looks may symbolize health and good genes. But women also often wants a good provider and an intelligent man. Since women value other rare traits (personality, intelligence) more and good looks are rare, therefor women often ends up with an average guy instead of a looker in reality. Pretty women are more common than handsome men, so men can more easily pick a pretty chick. So in theory women would care more and be more selective, but in practice women seems to care less about looks than men. Good for them since there are very few handsome men anyway.
