Pretty straight forward question. I’m not asking if it does take skill or is it all luck, but what is the split, in your opinion?

Well I got invited lately to this barbecue party. The host actually was asking a 20$ fee to join in. I did not go since I don't pay people to get me over and so I would never dare asking for payment when I invite someone. This brings the question, do you guys think it's reasonable to ask people to pay when you are inviting them over to your place. Free welcome to provide explanation.
