Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head, which did not appear to go over well with her husband Will Smith.

While presenting the award for best documentary, Rock joked, "Jada I love you, 'G. I. Jane 2,' can't wait to see it."

The camera cut to Pinkett Smith, who rolled her eyes as she sat next to Smith.

"That was a nice one," Rock said, appearing to respond to the joke not going over well.

Pinkett Smith has been open about her struggle with alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that leads to hair loss.

Rock then said, "Oh uh," and laughed as Smith walked toward him on stage and appeared to strike Rock in the face.

According to CNN reporter Stephanie Elam, who is in the audience, she could hear Rock getting hit. Smith said twice during the incident, according to Elam, "Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!"

Rock responded: "Oh, wow."

For viewers at home, censors muted the verbal part of the exchange between Rock and Smith.

The theater went silent and Rock said, "That was the greatest night in the history of television."

Sean "Diddy" Combs took to the stage later and told Smith and Rock that they would settle things "like family" later.

I loved to complain ever since I was in high school over things I couldn’t control and they were not big matters. I complained about why I need to pluck my eyebrows, shave, wear contact lens, wear makeup like most girls. I even complained why must the train and buses break down at the wrong time. I also complained about why all the things I liked always get sold out. Then I realised I complained way too much and for what? If I don’t like to do something I can choose not to do it why complain? Even bad things happening to me is also not something I could control.

I didn’t follow society’s beauty standards and I chose to be different from most girls and women. I know I stand out a lot but if my choices make me happy, why not? I felt that people’s negative opinions of me for not “fitting in” didn’t matter at all. I’m proud to be myself and not because society expected me to look like. Only the right guy for me will be by my side since I’m different from most girls and women, I know he will come to me I just have to wait. I didn’t realised I’m lucky in a certain way yet I took my life for granted. I’m not a hairy girl then I stumbled upon an article written by a hairy girl, frankly speaking I felt bad she has to go through those struggles hence I learned to understand people with struggles much better.

And I also have to try my best to be a good woman if I want to attract a good man which was not that hard for me to be. I learned to be more compassionate, sympathetic and understanding. Good news: I had finally stopped complaining unnecessarily and learned to accept life better! If I can do it you can do it too!
