Welcome back to another episode of 'I haven't slept in X amount of time and my brain is starting to go to places that don't make sense so let me try to make them make sense to you.'

Bread - a kind of food made of flour or meal that has been mixed with milk or water, made into a dough or batter, with or without yeast or other leavening agent, and baked.

^ Pie crust is made of flour and water and turned into a dough and baked, so pie crust is bread.

Sandwich - an item of food consisting of two pieces of bread with meat, cheese, or other filling between them, eaten as a light meal.

You might be thinking "Pie is 100% not a sandwich!" But hear me out. Pie, it has a bottom crust and a top crust and a filling in between. Pie crust and bread have similar ingredients, texture-wise, it's different but different breads have different textures, so pie crust is a textured bread. Pie crust encases the filling, yes, but sub sandwiches encase the filling too and they're still sandwiches.

The filling is arguably similar to jelly/jam, a common thing you put on sandwiches, it's just thicker. Utensils, I eat sandwiches with forks sometimes and they're still sandwiches, and if it's a hefty pie, it can be picked up and eaten.

If you're still not on board, could it be an open-face sandwich? Open-faced sandwiches have a bottom crust and a filling, a pie like pumpkin pie has a bottom crust and a filling. I think if we can consider tacos and hotdogs to be sandwiches (as discussed in previous posts) I think we can make an exemption for pie too.

TL;DR: Because probably nobody will read that wall of text, pie has a bottom and top crust and a filling, crust and bread are made of similar things and are pretty interchangeable, the filling is basically like a jam/jelly, and jam sandwiches do exist. At the very least, I think something like pumpkin pie could be considered an open-faced sandwich.

For those of you that don't know it, Duane "Dog" Chapman was an outlaw biker and spend a lot of time in prison before he turned his life around and became a bail bondsman.

His wife, Beth, also spend some time behind bars when younger. What a great couple they are!

Now, he tries to encourage those he captures to turn their life around as well.

What I love the most is how they do the take-down in merciless fashion, but once they have them secured, the incredible compassion they have on all but the worst of them can be breath-taking.

Lots of episodes have brought me to tears many times to see how much they love people and want to actually help them.
