I've read so many articles about black women dying in childbirth and how racist hospital staff are killing black mothers. Apparently even poor countries in Africa have lower pregnancy related deaths rate than black American women.

I'm not surprised that in racist America the amount of black women dying due to negligent hospital staff is so high, but what worries me is the problem transcends socio-economic backgrounds too. Both Serena Williams and Beyonce almost died in childbirth because of racist and neglient hospital staff who wouldn't listen to them. In fact it's a common belief in the medical world that black people feel less pain, again being dehumanized

Would getting an at home birth doula or midwife who's black be me and my child's safest bet? If I die my kid won't have anyone else to care for it so it's concerning, but also I worry about doing a home birth because if something goes wrong I will have to go to the hospital. But even then there's a good chance the staff will let me die.
