So I am going to an event at my college tomorrow, roller skating in one of the huge rooms they have for miscellaneous events. I’m just wondering if ice skating or roller skating is easier. Last week I went ice skating with my friends and as soon as I got on the ice, I had a hard time standing and moving without falling on my butt every 10 seconds (I had to deal with ice skating dancing shoes that have the teeth at the front of the blade in which I kept tripping on. It took me over an hour to finally get used to it at a regular pace and not fall. I’ve only ice skated 3 times in my life (counting the one from last week). With roller skating, I’ve only done it 4 times in my life, the last time was when I was 17 (I am 20 now). I can’t recall ever falling when I roller skated at one of those fun indoor roller skating party places (the event I’m going to tomorrow has the same set-up as a party skating place). I like the 2 by 2 skates and not the vertical skates because that way I don’t have to balance on skates. When I told my mom that I’m roller skating tomorrow, she said, “be careful” in a cautious tone while when I went ice skating last week with friends, all she said was, “Nice! Have fun! 😊” and I ended up falling so much that I have bruises all over my legs and knees (even though I only fell on my leg once unexpectedly). So In your all’s opinion, is roller skating or ice skating easier?

A family friend/part-time housekeeper cleans my house every 6 weeks or so, and we pay her good money to do it. I always unlock the front door before she arrives so she can let herself in. Today, somehow the external part of our door handle had frozen with the cold weather and she couldn’t open the door. I was brushing my teeth with my bathroom door closed and couldn’t hear her knocking on the front door.

When I let her in 5 minutes later, she was pissed and said she refuses to come back and clean for us unless we give her a house key (which I did 15 minutes later). She’s been snarking at me all morning (“Are you purposely letting these plants die?”, etc.).

Clearly she was pissed that she’d been kept out in the cold (she wasn’t wearing a winter coat or hat, despite the -6C temp), but I did my part by unlocking the door. Who’s at fault here?
