National Underwear Day is today. Put on a clean bra and panties, and go out to celebrate this very special and unique day.

According to their website, Freshpair, Inc., the founders of this day, celebrates every year by "holding New York City model events, massive underwear giveaways, a pop-up shop in Columbus Circle, and a Times Square runway show."

In 2013, Freshpair organized over 800 people dressed in their underwear in NYC's Times Square, to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people in their underwear. Believe it or not, this was not enough to break the record. But, thanks to this event, a new holiday was born.

Today is a great opportunity to strut your favorite t-shirts, bras, panties, tidy whities and boxers. Please do so in good taste.

The Origin of National Underwear Day:

Freshpair, an internet company, founded National Underwear Day on August 5th, 2003.

We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a "National" day. We found no congressional records or presidential proclamation. We suspect our national government would not proclaim this as an official "National" day. But, considering today's leaders, we could be wrong.

In New York they commute to work by the thousands in nothing but their underwear. Are you brave enough to try it! :)

I find it funny that girls yearn to wear thongs partially because it deals with the VPL. But really half the time it doesn’t and leaves you with a visible thong line. I’m not even talking abut the ‘whale tail ‘ faux pas!

The Visible Thong Line (VTL), has to be more embarrassing than its notorious cousin (the VPL). While the VPL may obnoxiously announce to the world that we are indeed wearing panties (which 99% of us girls are so it’s no secret), the VTL not only announces that, but its appearance also specifies the type -a thong, a risqué item in many circumstances.

Essentially, the VTL tells even more to the world than the VPL or than any of us would really like to know (or even see)! But maybe the thong is worth the risk despite the higher chance of a humiliating fashion mistake, by one means or another.
