Girls, In the mid/late 2000s, girls would intentionally show the waistband of their panties above the brim of their jeans - what happened?

Girls in the mid/late-2000s would intentionally show the waistband of their panties above the brim of their jeans. (Underwear often only exposed above the behind). This was considered part of 'casual' dress - at school, around the house, etc. It was very popular with thongs and their corresponding 'whale tail', but every panty was a victim to such exposure.

This was very much the fashion in the mid to late 00s. I'm sure a small percentage were accidental underwear exposures, but most were intentional. Whether that was due to the cut of the jeans (and underwear) during this time period, or due to girls were intentionally making sure their panties showed above their jeans only GIRLS can answer that?

Now, as we approach the 2020s, it's rare that you'll even see an accidental undies exposure, never-mind seeing knowingly exposed panties. It's a shame, because I found it hot seeing the different types of panties my classmates and friends wore!

Can anyone shed more light onto this fashion 'style' (for want of a better word) and its overall trend? How intentional was it when girls dressed like this? When, Why, and How did exposing underwear fade out of fashion?

And ultimately what are your thoughts overall on this? Did you use to show a glimpse of your underwear? Why/Why Not? When and Why did you stop displaying some of your undies (assuming you did in the first place), and Are you glad that this style no longer exists?
