The Wayans Brothers, The Jamie Foxx Show, The Steve Harvey Show, The Parent Hood, Malcolm and Eddie (one episode taught me about subletting and predatory renting practices!), and more.People remember shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and even Martin, but a lot of these other shows aren't remembered nowadays. Living Single is SOMEWHAT remembered cause Queen Latifah, but that was a female-targeted show and no males I knew watched it, including me. Same with Girlfriends and the 2000's last black show on UPN/The CW, The Game, known for launching the career of "that token white girl in every black show," Brittany Daniel. (Brittany Daniel's entire career being the "I only date black men" chick is f*cking hilarious!) Holy hell, Brittany Daniel is STILL playing this type-cast in Black-ish?There's that one fan theory that "The Boondocks" is a prequel to "The Wayans Brothers."Ah, Brittany Daniel, that one "black on the inside" white friend to every black girl that none of them trusted around their man.After that, we get the REAL obscure sh*t, like The PJs, and Lucas Bros. Had a whole thing before, like two days ago, but I got signed out when I went into my YouTube app to get a link😒 Didn't have time to re-do it. But I’m back, haha.
So, I had a whole preamble before about WB/UPN late 90s/early 00s tv, and I went to college around then and was usually too broke to have tv hooked up, lmao, so I didn’t consistently have tv from like ‘97 to ‘07. Missed ALL that shit, Jamie Foxx, Wayans Bros, Moesha, etc. When Kim Kardashian first got, er, “famous”…I didn’t know who Ray-J was, let alone Kim. Didn’t know why it was a big deal to see any of these people fuckin’ lmao.
Anyway, for myself, my sweet spot is probably like ‘90-‘95…. after ‘95, I had my driver’s license, and I was OUT😂 I remember there was that big TGIF show “Dinosaurs”, that was hot in the streets for a minute, but doesn’t get any play in reruns that I know of. Animatronics probably look way too cheap to hold up.
I think it was Fox that had some failed shows I remember, too. One was “Going Places”, with pre-Melrose Place Heather Locklear, AND Jerry Levine, aka Styles from Teen Wolf (REAL Teen Wolf, not that knockoff remake)…
And there was Top Of The Heap, an attempted spinoff of Married…With Children. That had Matthew LeBlanc and Joey Lauren Adams as some names that would go onto be notable.
I remember this. It came on after Xena Warrior Princess, where I lived. Hercules was 2 o'clock, Xena 3 o'clock, Sequest 4 o'clock, and Cleopatra 2525 at (twenty) 5 o'clock.

Sister Sister and Fresh Prince are on Vh1. Moesha, Living Single, Different World, and The Parenthood are on TvOne. The Parkers, Jamie Foxx Show, Martin, The Game, and Girlfriends are on BET. Wayans Bros is on MTv. The Pjs was on BeT sometime last year. I do miss Steve Harvey Show. Malcolm and Eddie reruns are on Starz. Blackish just went off air of ABC but BET plays reruns. Never heard of Lucas Bros, Homeboys nor Shasta. In Living Color reruns show on FX. Gosh i love cable.

You dont have to keep mentioning race. I grew up on mostly white shows. The black shows were rare aside from the ones we mentioned. And yea i wasn't allowed to watch Adult swim til i was like 18 lmao
Also I don't know if you truly paid attention to the Game. Kelly didn't “act black” until season 5 when she cut her hair from having cancer in real life. The girls were never threatened by her because Malik, Derwin, etc never showed interest in her. Only Jason and Jason Momoa. Kelly was an actual good friend who didn't go for her friends men and she never tried to act black. She acted like a Valley Girl that Jason no longer spoiled with riches. But i still enjoyed her character and the way they roleplayed especially as Tarzan and Jane
I never once watched "The Game." But like, every girl I knew was into that show, even though they ironically tried to make it an equal genders show by having it be around football. But it was basically a soap opera sitcom, so only women ever watched that show.
I meant, Brittany Daniel was typecast as playing the hot, tall, blonde "I date black men and secretly want to be black" girl in almost every show or movie she ever did. I don't know what character she played on the game, but the typecast was long since established by then. This show was like from 2006, and she's been playing that "secretly black" girl since the 90s. She was also in "White Chicks" too, I believe. I think the ONLY time she played a different character was her being David Spade's redneck wife in "Joe Dirt." And I'm not even saying her playing that same role every time is a "bad" thing. I'm just saying it's funny, cause if they cast Brittany Daniel, you almost always know she's playing that "black on the inside, I only date hot black dudes" girl in it.
Jason was barely black and brittany still acted white in the game. In Little man, she married a white man and acted white. Marlon just wanted to suck her tits. In joe dirt, she returned to the trailer park that they said she came from in The Game pretty much and she still acted white. In White Chicks and Sweet Valley High she once again acted white and more so “valley” and uppity. Just because she could dance in White Chicks didn't mean she was acting black. What show did she act black? Because even her twin sis acts white and they both still married white men
The Nanny and Three's Company (i know not 90's) were my absolute fav. I loved Fran, she was adorable. Three's Company I'd just die of laughter all the time. I still watch clips and episodes of them when available.
The Wayans Bros was way more memorable to me. Especially if you think about the "The Boondocks is a prequel" theory. I watched The Jamie Foxx Show and The Steve Harvey Show, and I barely remember what they were about. The Jamie Foxx Show was basically the plot of the Fresh Prince, but had Foxx working in a hotel instead of living in a big mansion.
The comedy was better back then and they had real audiences in the back. Not a laugh track. I loved the king of queens, fresh prince and the Wayne's bros. I watched re runs all the time and they never got old
The earliest tv sit com I watched was 2 broke girls. I liked the show but I had to force myself to laugh at the jokes. The comedy was terrible.
@Sirenboobzilla I think that show was pretty mainstream. I don't know anyone who liked it, but I think most people watching Nickelodeon in 1998 saw it.
