I gained extra pounds just sitting around for two weeks. But it took me 2months to get back into shape.
One of the largest reasons is the easy accessibility of easily palatable foods due to many factors like their texture, consistency, low volume so you have more room in the stomach, high in sugar (aka high glycemic index &/or load that spikes the blood sugar levels) &/or fat (around 9 calories per gram). Many companies appeal to our food weaknesses so it will drive up sales or them.
But we can literally over eat healthy foods as well. It's harder but not impossible. I think it's like this because though we can burn a lot in a day based on what we do, our basal metabolic rates still won't be that high. And we're not a particularly massive species when it comes to size either. We don't weigh tons so the body doesn't need but so much energy to keep us going.

Speak for yourself. I'm the definition of hard gainer. I can't put on weight even though I eat what I want.
I've been strength training for years, and have put on a modest amount of extremely lean muscle.
Because if you don't do some exercise, even if it's just simple, you don't burn off anything. It doesn't matter if the food you're eating is healthy or not, as you can (and will) gain weight off of anything you eat. The key is to just do exercising, having smaller portion intake, and not eating around certain times (aka late at night). Just don't eat so little you're starving yourself.
Calories in, calories out. If you consume more calories than what your body can burn through just existing and exercise, then you gain weight. Burn more than you consume, you lose weight.
Keep in mind that it's fairly easy to consume 1,000 calories in a single sitting within 10 minutes; but it takes a few hours of exercise to burn those same 1,000 calories.

It's easier to eat than to exercise. A lot of food is high in calories. If you're not moving around to burn off those calories they're easily turned into fat
Really, it’s a vast “conspiracy” (businessmen) that overloads sugar and corn syrup into regular foods, some you wouldn’t think. Like orange juice…full of corn starch.
1) because corn is a big in America (see ethanol standards which are bullshit)
2) sugar keeps us seeing the doctors and getting prescriptions.because you just sit around and eat. it's the easiest thing to do in the world. the easiest thing to do is be lazy.
to lose weight, you actually have to either starve yourself and mentally drain yourself from doing so, or put in the work to exercise. it doesn't usually come easy.
It's a lot easier for me to lose weight than to gain it 😭😭😭
I am the same. I only have to look at junk food to put on weight, it seems.
It feels more difficult because it is psychologic. Loosing weight is always accompanied by some degree of hunger feeling, because you are in calorie deficit. And the mind doesn't like that.
Fat is basically energy blocks with 1 pound of fat having almost 3500 calories
So to gain fat you have to intake energy (in form of food)... which we all know is super easy
And to lose fat you will have to "burn" energy.. not so easyIf you're not burning the calories you're taking in, it's game over. Order unhealthy food and it'll be more for you to burn. And burning takes more effort than enjoying a delicious meal.
Dont jnow but just wait til you are over 40. Hahah…. Muhahahahahaaaaaa!!!
You must change diet if challeged at 30 already. You youngster. For me it is both easy to gain and to lose. I use an app to help me maintain my weight which is right now 50kg.
Your body just stores fat better than it burns it, especially if you’re sedentary there’s more likelyhood for you to overeat what you actually burn
Because gaining weight uses less effort and energy and losing it and keeping fit requires more energy and effort. One takes hard work the other takes minimum effort and low energy generally.
It’s because the human body is designed to keep things incase there is famine. A healthy diet an adequate exercise will help you lose weight
You answered it yourself. It's very easy to sit around doing nothing all day except eating.
I'm the complete opposite.
It depends all on a persons individual metabolism.Gain weight just requires you to be inactive. Losing weight requires active fat-burning exercise….
I am in this category too. I mean there should be some sort of scientific explanation for this too 😂
Because some foods are higher in calories. A lot of fast food can easily make you gain weight.
You work hard for the money song lyrics lol anyways bro I for one think that it varies from human to human
Excessive calories are easier to consume than they are to burn
