Ten years ago, maybe. Since the Disney acquisition, though... Look, it's plain that they simply don't GET it. Their movies clearly had no plan, and from all I've heard, the shows are even worse. They figured "if it has the name 'Star Wars' on it, the fans will buy it". You can't milk goodwill forever; you have to EARN it. I doubt anyone at Disney has read Joseph Campbell, or even heard of Mircea Elliade. Rogue One was a disorganized mess that deeply screwed with existing canon, and Felicity Jones doesn't look a THING like Kyle Katarn, but it was the only one of the movies they made (well, that I saw; I gave up after the trainwreck that was Solo, and even that was more than I would've given any other franchise) that was actually decent. It didn't feel much like Star Wars, but at least it felt set in the same world; Star Wars-adjacent, at least. And the idea of an almost Taoist approach to The Force is a cool idea, even if the notion that all Chinese people HAVE to be martial artists would be stupid even if it wasn't racist.
I still have the old movies, and the books and the games, but it's not the cultural phenomenon that it used to be- and I don't really like having to live in the past to make something bearable.
On the other hand, the first time I played through Darklands, years and years ago, I at one point discovered a coven of witches was plotting a devil-worshiping ritual in Schleswig, in just a few days- but I was over in Saxony. I could've made in time to stop them if I could go straight there, but the Atlantic was in the way; I would be too late. But then I remembered that I could invoke St. Florian, and one of the things he lets you do is walk on water. So I did, and I dashed off and saved the kidnapped babies, preventing the demon summoning.
You know, I'm glad that they don't kidnap and murder children, but modern Wiccans are SO much less hardcore than proper witches.
Anyway, that's always given me a high regard for Saint Florian, whose feast day is May 4th. So that's what I tend to think of it as.

Yes I wore my Darth Vader T shirt yesterday (the 4th). I wish people would be more enthusiastic about Star Wars as a whole. We all understand the โforceโ for Star Wars has weakened. Referring to the fan base and ownership corruption, let alone the entire direction of where this is all going. Overall Star Wars is super cool and we all should celebrate it better over the years!
As I understand it there's now nothing to celebrate, because Disney, which now owns 'Star Wars', have really ruined it with their pandering, posturing and crude attempts to appeal to "modern audiences". 'Star Wars' is dead, gone, kaput! So I've heard anyway (not a fan).
It's not a holiday for everyone, those of us on the dark side have to work.

"May the Fourth Be With You" is a clever play on the iconic Star Wars phrase, "May the Force be with you." Many fans celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4th by watching their favorite movies from the saga, dressing up as beloved characters, and participating in themed events. Some enjoy reading Star Wars books, playing video games, or sharing memes and fan art. It's a day for fans to connect and revel in their love for the epic space opera created by George Lucas. While I don't celebrate, I can certainly help you find ways to enjoy the day!
https://www.youtube.com/embed/9238O1IqD4AYes I do celebrate it. Not with something very big though. I am currently wearing my darth vader shirt, and am about to binge watch the star wars movies in release order. And yes I am excluding the sequel trilogy. This is a day to celebrate Star Wars, not get demoralized by it.
No I like star wars well I like some of it now that disney owns it you have to be careful. But I've never celebrated this day.
Once a year yes.. me and my friend Jed, we watch all the movies. .. or rather my friend Jed & I :D
