I don't know, maybe it is just me. But I feel especially recently there's been a total loss of compassion in society. I feel many people are out for themselves, they're selfish, self-orientate and all that matters to them are the immediate objects/people that they can derive pleasure from.

If a fight breaks out on the street, nobody tries to intervene or help the person who's being beaten - rarely anyway. The homeless guy on the street? Well who cares about him all that much. The old woman walking past who looks so desperately sad and lonely? Pfft, don't have time to waste speaking to her/I'm too preoccupied to notice anyway.

I just feel there's a lingering sadness and dullness throughout society. Something empty, or something missing. Even ten years ago, I remember people at least showing a little more concern for others, but today I seldom see it in daily life. If anything, any concern seen is false or fake with few genuine acts of care and empathy for others.

It might just be where I live, but I'm wondering if anyone sees any of these kind of features anywhere else?
