I feel like I’m wasting my time if I read and do not take notes because I might encounter an important idea that requires more reflection but reading feels like a chore and not a hobby, when I’m busy taking notes. Tim Grover said Kobe Bryant would analyze each movie he saw section by section so that he could maximize his learning experience by rewatching it over and over again, that Kobe had an incredibly high tolerance for pain and exhaustion and that he spoke at least 4 languages he had taught himself such as Italian or Spanish or Chinese because he thought it would help him with game strategy and foreign marketing product development but I think the average person is not motivated in that way. Tim says Kobe would often work out until 4 in the morning cause he was so eager to perfect his skills.
