For 18 years, Larry Nassar was the team doctor of the United States women's national gymnastics team, which gave him access to hundreds of girls and young women whom he sexually abused.

Nassar's sexual abuse of young girls and women and the subsequent cover-up led to the USA Gymnastics sex abuse scandal that began in 2015, alleging that Nassar repeatedly sexually assaulted at least 265 young women and girls under the guise of medical treatment. His victims included numerous Olympic and United States women's national gymnastics team gymnasts.

Several victims described Nassar's modus operandi: After having gained the trust and friendship of a girl, he would insert his ungloved finger into her vagina during physical therapy, describing this as normal "pressure point" therapy for pain relief. On some of these occasions a parent was in the room, unaware of what happened.

More than 1,000 people say they were abused by athletics doctor Robert Anderson, who worked for the University of Michigan from 1966 to 2003 treating students across sports including football, track, and wrestling.

Anderson, who died in 2008, subjected students, 90% of whom were men, to "sexually abusive conduct" and invasive exams, including unnecessary genital and rectal examinations, according to a 2021 independent report commissioned by the university.  Many of Anderson's victims were Black -- and survivors say this has played a part in why the abuse was allowed to continue for decades.

In his roles at the university, Anderson abused men and women from different racial backgrounds, undergraduate and graduate students, student athletes -- including a two-time Super Bowl champion and former world-class wrestler -- and members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community.

27F, I just feel like I had it harder than others. I haven’t been sexually or physically abused but I had my share of emotional abuse. I was bullied as a kid up to in HS, I was raised by my grandmother who is very petty/fits the “mean girl” description in the sense that she has a big mouth, gossiped about her kids/grandkids with her other kids/grandkids and is a bit of a narcissist. I never really had friends growing up and to go this far in life still without those close friendships and never had a long term relationship under my belt is just so odd. I know nothing is wrong with me but this trauma from my mother’s vindictive side of the family, bullying and just encountering my share of drama with people I’ve come across is unjust considering I’m a very peaceful person. I’m very unsociable and usually now expect people to make the first move to contact me, with current “friends”, family and if a guy actually wants to make a move (which never happens). I feel like people always say things about how everyone goes through a difficult time and we all have a cross to bear. But honestly, I have to disagree. It’s all about the cards your dealt with and life is a series of good and bad luck, some situations are in your control and others not so much. I didn’t ask to be born into my family, I would have been a different person maybe for the better if I wasn’t raised by my grandmother. I wouldn’t have had to go with my grandmother if my mom didn’t divorce my dad.

TL; DR; Does anyone get envious and also under the impression that most people just have life a lot easier and shit is just unfair?
