In many western cultures a wife takes her husbands name in some way or another upon marriage. How important is this to you? Girls, would you take his name? Hyphenate it? Keep yours?

Recently i found out i was pregnant and when my boyfriend and i had first gotten together we planned to stay together so it came down to this altercation because he is a Junior and his father is a Senior, obviously with that being said, he wants to name his first son, “his name” the third... i would’ve been okay with that, but i am the last generation with my family last name because my grandpa had a girl and then my mom had a girl and were both the only children. My grandpas wishes were to carry on the family name.. basically that when i get married i hyphenate my name and my kids name so our last name doesn’t just die forever.. the only thing is i don’t know what to do because my son would be a Third and i’m not sure if there is a way to hyphenate that.. would i hypenate his name and still add “the third” or would i let his name be and hyphenate my next child’s name.. someone help please and thank you
