Polls: Education & Career

If a server provides good and fast service then hell yeah they deserve at least 15%. If it's shitty service, yeah I can understand why leaving no tip. But damn, I can't understand for the life of me why people don't want to pay for the service. Why do servers have to bust their ass for you when you aren't even going to pay them for it?

Other countries might pay restaurant staff their minimum wages but America doesn't. And until someone changes the system, pays us minimum wage and increases food prices, then thats just the way it is.

Why do people choose to work that job? One, does it matter as long as they're supporting themselves and not on welfare using your hard earned money? Two, who else is going to service you if no one works in the industry?

Three, it does not make me entitled to expect I get paid a decent amount. Are you entitled for thinking sports players or CEOs deserve all that money? No? So how is this different?

*My Experience:
At my job we have servers and runners. As a runner, we are trained to keep drinks filled, help the server, clean tables ASAP, everything. Servers immediately greet their tables. If they don't the runners do and we keep them happy until thwir server can get there. When people come to us they tell us we have the best service they have ever recieved. So what's going on?

I find most of my friends switching career paths or settling for a job that is convenient just because they need to make money, as bills and loans don't pay themselves. So if you wish to elaborate more than the poll and share your story, I'd love to hear!

As a child, what was it that you dreamt of becoming when you "grow up"? Once in high school, what was it that you aspired do as a living? Once in post secondary, what did you end up studying in college/university (if you continued school that is)? Once graduated, what is it now that you're doing for a living (is it far off from what you desired to do? and are you content with what you're doing?) Do you plan on making changes to do something you enjoy later on if time/life situations allow?

My answer: I had wanted to teach and become a teacher when I was still a rugrat. Apparently I was told that I would make my stuff animals sit in a class like setting as I made up worksheets. Once in high school, I looked further into my options and had child and youth work in mind along with teaching still as an option. I was however taking biology and exercise science which lit up the option to go into nursing. With support and persuasion, I chose nursing. I've been working in post-operative care for 9 months now and somewhat dread it as I find it physically, mentally and emotionally draining. The goal and dream is to work in oncology (cancer unit), but I'm still buried in loans. Heck, I also dream to teach abroad.

I repeated the 2nd grade, because I was very sick, then after finishing high school I had to take 2 years off because I didn't get accepted anywhere ( I'm not very smart), now I'm 22 and miserable as f*ck, I finally got accepted in a small university, but I will start in September, the average university age in my country in 19. I'm scared that I won't fit in, or that I will have trouble finding a job, since I'll be graduating with a BS at 25, and a MS at 26/27. Will it be a problem? I can't talk to anyone about it, because it's all my fault, I wasted 3 years of my life doing absolutely nothing, and my parents remind me of it every single day.

Well its pretty obvious that Im going to do what I always do *rolls eyes*
What about you?

I work as a makeup artist (say what u want fam lol the money comes in) and my boss makes all the girls wear makeup! If u turn up without makeup on u get in a lot of trouble, but there are guys who work in the salon too and they are not required to wear makeup.

I dont think it's fair cause just because I was born with a vagina I need to get up an hour earlier and clog my pores with makeup when a boy can get his extra hour sleep and then walk into work!! Doesn't make sense that I NEED to wear it and a boy doesn't. It isn't fair cause I break out when I wear makeup. Don't get me wrong I am a makeup artist I like doing makeup it's fun etc but just cause I'm a girl I shouldn't HAVE to wear it as part of a work dress code only because I was born with a vagina while the men don't have to because they got a penis.

My dad's clothes are inspiring me so much <3

And before you ask... NO - there's no other option.

Educated : " having an education; especially : having an education beyond the average"

For me and my family it;s very important. The more educated the more likely I am to be attracted to the person. Education adds so much more value and substance to the person.


1) I find any hardworking person who works in a legal field highly respectful.


2) But having an educated man would mean that we will have much more quality discussion and legit experiences to share.


3) Being Educated in one thing without having open horizons about different fields is not that much of a big deal. For example if he's only highly educated in Mathematics and has no clue about other things going on in the world, it's not a turn on.


4) I don't know how things work in other countries, but in France, when I was in Med school and currently in Law University , we tend to have a different subjects that cover many different fields (for example we don't study law or Medicine exclusively, we also study about Philosophy, History, developing a critical and analytical thinking etc...). I think it's important for me to be with a man who's mind is flexible and educated in different sectors.


5) When I say educated, I mean University/College and book educated, not internet and CNN educated.
