Mozart certainly lacked it.
"By the mid-1780s, Wolfgang and Constanze Mozart’s extravagant lifestyle was beginning to take its toll. Despite his success as a pianist and composer, Mozart was falling into serious financial difficulties."
Dude couldn't keep five cents in his pocket. Yet, he could write a sentence simultaneously with both hands writing towards the middle from either end.
Some do, some don't. My mom is academically smart but when it comes to common sense, not so much. For example, my father was teaching her how to cook when he told her don't touch the pan, it is hot. Not only did she touch the pan, she did so twice.
there's a few types of intelligence - academic intelligence doesn't correlate to logical, creative and emotional intelligence etc. so you can be intelligent even if you're not the best at school. some people are only book smart but lack the ability to think out of the box or common sense.
Yes for sure lol cause thats me. I've always been told im booksmart but i def lack common sense

Intelligence doesn't rule out common sense. It's completely up to the individual if they have common sense or not. Often if a person is intelligent but lacks common sense, the missing common sense pops out easier than with someone who is not that intelligent and also lacks common sense.
It's massively dependent on the type of intelligence you're talking about. I know plenty of people who didn't excel academically but are amazing when it comes to problem-solving at work. I believe you can get academic idiot savants but outside of that, common sense is pretty much intrinsically linked.
Oh yes! Absolutely! Almost all the people I know who were “intelligent” who in high school were the honor students and AP courses are the ones today that have been to jail and living at home with their parents. They’re book smart, but absolutely no common sense when it comes to real life things, such as paying bills, holding a job and being responsible.
I believe that it can be the case, yes. Intelligence and common sense are two different things. Common sense is more likely to be found in those of greater intelligence but then some people of intelligence in particular fields can be extremely naive in other fields. You could take the classic example of the uber nerd who is clueless when it comes to relationships. They could lack common sense in the handling of the opposite sex despite being near genius level in their chosen field.
What exactly would you classify as intelligent people? Academically? Book Smart? Street smart? Because nobody has perfect common sense, what's common sense to one person could be completely strange to another. Age also plays a role in this. An older person's common sense could be out dated, or a younger person still learning.
I think most intelligent people that lack common sense is because they operate on a different plane of thinking from others and either can't or refuse to attempt to think about what someone else at a different level of intelligence would do (sometimes anyone in general).
yes!! haha my dad and aunt are like intellegent but they are the dumbest people ever tbh haha and my other aunt and uncle finished highschool early and all but they know how to save and work hard and do all that common sense stuff
My parents made me go to a nerd camp once when I was in high school. Those kids fucked up everything, they were clumsy, tell them go right, they'll go left then say "my bad". I think it's just that over educated people don't spend enough time in the real world and they're all antisocial and shit too
common sense is way far from common. i see it in my company, and even society as a whole. even me who i have i higher than average iq i am struggling with common sense some times.
You'd be surprised how uncommon common sense is, especially in the more uhh... Intellectually lacking population
I always considered common sense to be the foundation for most forms of intelligence. How can you be intelligent if you can't use basic logic?
Not really... It definitely depends on the part of their life experience you're talking about, but mostly no...
Not always. There are some absolutely brilliant people out there who function in the world just fine.
Everyone lacks some common sense every now and then. Intelligence has nothing to do with it.
If they are purely book smarts, in a sense, they lack common sense about how life works. YEs.
Yes and no. Some very intelligent people do lack some common sense but not all - only a select few.
I disagree as I believe most intelligent people use common sense, but may lack people skills or adaptability to uncomfortable environments.
I believe this to be true and I am one of these people, intelligent with not common sense
To a certain degree it is true... mostly in the short run but not in the long run.
Intelligent people are only good at subjects but are dumb when it comes to general knowledge
