Installment is probably better long term however there are long term taxes with that. Lump sum has no long term taxes that come with it and the taxes for it are overall lower from what I understand.

It'd probably depend on just how much the amount actually was.

its better to take the lump sum and just invest it yourself, you will make way more money long term doing it this way..

BUT most people end up just blowing it all in a few years and are worse off then before they won. So there is a lot of logic to taking the instalments because it forces you to only blow so much of your winnings at a time.
