There was this girl I knew has told me this in the middle of conversation we had for context, she’s 23 years old:

I’m not very experienced in love. I don’t understand hookup culture, and I dislike serial dating. I have had bad experiences with LDRs and simply everything social media-related. I may act like a tough cookie, but I really am not.

Are there still people out there who will stand at your doorstep holding flowers and maybe chocolates, nervous and stumbling over their words? Are there still people who write Christmas and birthday cards each year to the people they love? Are there people who will gift their favorite book with annotations to their lover so they can enjoy it too?

I don’t want to be shown off on your Instagram or Facebook page like some meat trophy with a name. I don’t want to remind someone of my birthday or that it’s the day when a loved one passed away. I don’t want to be compared to all the beauty exhibited online.

I want someone to slow down with me and stare up at the sky, watching how the clouds turn into different shapes. Sigh.

You can go there to help out, play, and interact with them. You can get to learn of the culture and history of Ghana 🇬🇭 while learning something. It’s rewarding.

The 2020s are probably one of the worst post-war decades ever. COVID, lots of crises happening, lack of monoculture, extreme polarization, etc. The world is still pessimistic. With the election coming up in November, that will determine the fate of the rest of the decade. People are not excited about the election at all. Either we have the same senile old man or we will have a wannabe dictatorship. So, if things go wrong in the second half of the decade, do you think the decade will be a universally hated decade like the 30s and 40s? I honestly see the 2020s as being like the 1930s.

I mean, with everything about inflation, war, and being locked inside for two years, does any of this even compare to the disparity of the 1970s?

That voice in your head that says 'you know maybe this is a bad idea. or 'i won't do that because it is wrong'

Do you have your own personal Jiminy Cricket?

The worst driver I knew was a former student who totaled three cars between Junior and Senior year. Thank goodness she was okay for all of them but from what I gathered she was uninsurable after that.

Do you consider yourself an above average driver? Did you pass your permit and road test the first try?

Or is that just me? 😅
