I'm 24 years old and I've never had a girlfriend, had sex or ever had any form of a hookup whatsoever. It's not my fault. I'm pretty sure most girls between 18-29(I'll say under 30) only go after guys who are wealthy and leave guys like me (who work for a living) out of the picture.

I'm going into my last semester of college and I'll be a teacher next Fall (student teaching.) I've been rejected by countless girls in my life. I was 13 years old the first time I asked a girl out, so it's been eleven consecutive years of rejection. Eleven years. Let that sink in.

Girls in college are the worst. Actually, worse than high school. They literally will ONLY date the richest guys on campus. High school girls were picky about social status (how "popular" the guy is) but at least they didn't care if you weren't making much money. I have two jobs, one pays ten an hour and one pays nine an hour but I still only make around 150-200 dollars a week, since I don't work many hours at either one. It's not my fault, I need a job to work around my school schedule. Even when I start teaching, I'll only start out between $35-40,000 a year.

I'm funny, confident, smart and have an amazing personality, but unfortunately, none of this matters.

In the poll, do you think girls are too shallow?

So I've seen multiple comments on here from women, remarking that is sad or shallow that men judge women only on looks and personality, while women judge men on looks, personality, money, status, confidence, etc. So I've got a question for all of you.

Would women be better off if men judged them on the same things women judge men on? That is, we have different attraction cues that matter. For instance, I might be hard working, and honest, but that won't help me get dates. That's life.

Currently, I think we can all agree than men mainly judge women on looks, and character, as attraction cues. Basically--is she cute/attractive? And is she loyal/fun/honest, etc?

While women judge men on looks and personality, but also on how much money he has, what job/career he has, confidence, social skills, status, like that. Those are attraction cues to women.

So, the hypothetical situation is this. Let's say men stopped being happy with cute, sweet girls, and wanted women with confidence to approach guys, good social skills (such as, can strike up a conversation with a stranger and smoothly get his number), a good job/career, a decent amount of money in her pocket, and status.

In other words, let's say men suddenly judged women on the exact same things women judge men on and find attractive.

Would women find it easier to get dates, or harder?

I don't know about you all, but it really irks me when I see 2 teenagers neck deep in a relationship. I understand that some married couples were high school sweethearts (which is actually pretty sweet), but people often neglect the high school relationships that didn't work out. I read somewhere that the percentage of high school lovers getting married is around 1-2%. and the percentage that stick together is even lower, which leads me to ask... Is teenage dating overrated? So often, our social status in adolescence is dictated by our ability to be in a relationship and that leads to many psychological issues that we run into today. To me, I think dating is a tremendous waste of time, especially in your adolescent years. It consumes money, energy, but most importantly time. The young mind is so receptive to new information. Why spend it all learning about one single person?

Perhaps I sound bitter in this question but this is actually an observation I've made based on my own self. I dated a girl in high school, and I did not get very much out of it. Yes, I gained some experience into how dating should be, but that is something that I could have learned as I become older. I suppose the message that I am trying to convey is that one should postpone the instant gratification of an immediate relationship for a more meaningful one in the future. All of that free time could be spent getting good grades, making new friends, or developing a new skill. Not only will these things boost your self-esteem, it will make you a more appealing bachelor or bacherlorette. Your happiness and identity should not be solely dependent on a significant other. Rather, you should be in control of yourself and until you are capable of becoming independent, I do not think you are ready for a relationship. That's just my two cents. Agree or disagree, this is what I have learned and experienced.
