Making a Christmas present can be stressful. Sometimes receiving can be too. Sometimes it can show the lack of knowledge a person has about the other.

I have the feeling I should be vocal when I don't like a present, so the person actually gets to know me, and doesn't gets me similar presents anymore. But I don't know how to do it tactfully and I feel I'm going to ruin something. So I usually try to be as quiet as possible and smile... then I bury the present at the bottom of a drawer or so, and let them conclude by themselves I didn't like the present when they don't see me using/wearing it ever.

What about you? Are you able to tell people when you don't like their gifts? Do you feel forced to pretend? Do you keep pretending afterwards or only in the moment?

Honestly, I hope you hardly ever get in this type of situation!

I''ve had the Hallmark Channel (W Network here in Canada) on all day, watching Christmas movies in the background. They're pretty, heartfelt (yes, a bit too sappy sometimes too), and always end well. Lots of themes about loss and love.

Anyway, even with the volume on mute I can often kind of tell what's going on in the plot. These two characters, man and a woman working together on some business project (whatever, not important), just gave each other a hug and there was a camera on each of them, cutting to their different reactions. It was obvious they both have feelings for each other but haven't expressed it openly yet (they'll end up together, don't you worry), so the hug was long, lingering, but also kind of sad. They clearly did not want to say goodbye.

And it got me to thinking. Do you think the world is missing more hugs? Or are they too abundant already/insincere? And does it matter if it's the same gender, or opposite?
(IGNORE COVID. Who wants to talk about that again. Pretend we're living not in a time of Covid.)
Do you want more hugs, or do you prefer your personal space?

I'm very affectionate with people I'm close to. But I don't like hugging complete strangers as a greeting. I would hug some people I've been talking to online, if I ever met them in person. I've even dreamt about that.

NATIONAL HUGGING DAY is - January 21, 2021

So far my dating life has been nonexistent and I feel somewhat behind and left out from what all of my peers around me are experiencing. A few guys have shown interest in me, but I was not interested in them. The guys that I did have interest in, did not have interest in me. I even shot my shot twice. The first time I got rejected, the second time the guy just played with my feelings and pretended to be interested in me, so I ended things. I wouldn't say I'm particularly off-putting. Maybe I am a little too confident, but I think I am in fairly good shape and am a good person. I exercise regularly, have plenty of friends that I think can attest to my positive attributes, like being funny and open minded, and have goals in life. I honestly don't think I am below any of the other girls who do have boyfriends and constant male attention, but obviously I don't consider myself to be above them. Will it be easier to get into a relationship once I leave high school? I am graduating this year. I know that I could have just dated one of the guys that showed prior interest in me, but I would never want to get into a relationship with someone who I have no attraction to "just because" and then leading them on (like what happened to me), I would rather have it be where we are mutually romantically interested in one another. I just don't get what these girls are doing to get swarmed by guys...
