Last night I got an email from a guy who I used to sleep with. It was strictly a friends with benefits relationship, but low and behold I fell head over heels for him. I told him; because I felt I was being unfair to him by being dishonest. He said he wasn't in it for a relationship and we left it at that. We did continue to sleep together over the course of 7 years, though it was not often.

He was deployed in the Navy for 4 years and during that time we spoke everyday (except when he was on deck of course) but we never saw each other. However, when he returned, we got back into seeing each other. It was only once. He picked me up. We talked a lot. I ended up initiating sex. Before this point he would often ask me how I felt about him and I would tell him. I was always open about the depth of my feelings for him and he liked that, though he never would tell me if he felt the same. This last time we hooked up it brought back the slew of feelings I had for him ten fold. And after bringing it up in conversation one more time and him denying any sort of feelings to have a relationship with me, I decided it was in my best interest to move on.

He was drunk last night and emailed me after we haven't spoke in a few months. He was very open, which isn't normally how he reacts. I asked him if he had a new girl yet and he said "No, you are taken" but would not elaborate on what he had meant. He told me I was hands down the most amazing women he has ever had the chance of meeting and also told me he was sorry that he never gave me what I deserved ("which is perfection"). I then told him that he deserved better than me. He replied "I love you though". He's never told me anything about how he felt before. Could this confession be caused by the amount of alcohol he consumed and him being lonely OR do you think he was being truthful?

My friends and I have encountered lots of guys

Guys that break up with you without saying anything
Guys that lead you on and deny it
Guys who cheat
Guys who tell all their friends on the football team what you do together in private
Guys who secretly record sex and show people
Guys who use girls for sex and then dump them
Guys that lie control and manipulate
Etc. If I ever did any of these things I would never have a peace of mind. I would feel guilty and write or tell that person who I hurt I am truly sorry. I know thats one of the main reasons why I feel animosity towardy exs. They never apologized for hurting me so much, they never acknowledged their role in my hurt. Because it took me 6 months to get over my first heartbreak and I felt like it would destroy me. It didn't but why can't guys admit and apologize for their roles in a girl's nightmares, a girl's tears, a girl's shame (of being used or exposed) a girl's change of eating habits because she's so depressed, or the way a girl will probably never love that hard again because of what you've done. Seriously? Guys dont feel guilty AT ALL? I can't imagine that someone could be this cold and without feelings.
