I pick at my skin every day. I pick at my back, my face, my scalp, and my thighs if they have bumps on them. I started doing this when I was 9, because my face broke out in black heads and I thought that I could simply pick them away. I'm always picking at dead skin and blemishes. I have a freckle on the side of my face that once swelled to the size of a mole, and I picked at that for hours until it became flat again. My fingers were covered in blood. Having had experience with more common methods of self harm, I was used to this, so I compulsively picked at my face without hesitation.

I looked at my backside today and noticed that the area just below the neck has some scarring. I frequently pick at that area, because I feel really gross when I don't. It's so oily, lumpy, and disgusting. So is my face. I pick at it until it feels smooth and there is no more dead skin to pick off. When I look at my fingers and see small black dots, I feel satisfied, because that means my face has one less blackhead. With my scalp, I pick at it until I no longer find dead skin flakes in my nails. I do it to the point where my face, back, or head starts to hurt. When I'm away from home, I look forward to being home so I can pick again.

Is this a form of self-harm? When I do it, should I wipe clean the number of days that I've been clean from cutting and all that stuff?
