I've just never really been into romantic gestures. I went on a date with this guy a little bit ago, I didn't really like him much, I didn't dislike him, I just didn't know him very well because he was pretty quiet. And the date went alright, only he kept talking about how he just wants to treat me to special things, and treat me well. And he did not get a second date. It just freaked me out, like I don't like things being paid for for me, and I don't like sweet talk. ESPECIALLY not sweet talk. I had a guy write me a poem and I really DID like him, I was dating this guy, and I panicked, didn't know what to say, and it all around just made me feel super awkward.

That's not to say I don't want a guy who treats me badly. And I am affectionate and stuff, like I like hand holding, and I like hugs, and cuddles. I just don't like too much verbal expression or things that cost money. Like to me, the PERFECT date would be just walking around a park, maybe hanging by the lake and just basically chilling. Meanwhile my friend has this super romantic guy she's dating and like I legitimately think they're wonderful and sweet, but like, for me, it'd NEVER work. I'm over here crushing on a guy who works as an auto mechanic, and doesn't seem to have a romantic bone in his body. Which my friends don't get. They're always like "You like... him? I mean... he's cute... but..."

And it's not like this guy has any bad habits, he doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, isn't some ladies man. He's just the type of guy who doesn't really seem to grasp romance.

I'm single and I want to be in a relationship BUT it's obvs not gonna happen with the kind of selection I'm working with. But I got a taste for it and realized how much I want romance. I wanna go on dates and cuddle and do fun stuff like sledding. I just don't click with people I know, it's like I can't bring myself to like a classmate's company enough to spend time with him willingly. I have male friends but they're there for lulz and aren't my type. Maybe I'll just have "fun" with a hot guy that my cl*t likes but not me but avoid pursuing an actual romantic relationship. To scratch that itch yaknowhatimsaying. I want a relationship but I won't lower my standards to include guys who I can't feel anything for.
