I just found out what sickle cell disease was, I was at the hospital with my mom when some man was rushed into The little room next to ours, the rooms weren’t separated by walls, just curtains so we heard everything

it was this grown man crying out in pain, literally.
my mom was asleep so she didn’t hear it but I heard it.
He was crying so bad I started to pray for him
when the nurse came back and Talked to him I found out he had sickle cell crisis.

I don’t really remember what it said, but it said something like; Sickle cell crisis happens when something is wrong with your blood cells,
the disease cannot be cured, only treated.
It feels as if you are being stabbed multiple times on multiple areas of your body.

I’m not sure why, but the sickle cell disease mostly attacks African Americans & is also known as the
“black disease”

i read somewhere that this disease hasn’t been cured because it pretty much only affects
African Americans.

I heard a comment that if this was a “white disease”
it would’ve already been cured.
Is this true?

also this man ended up walking out of the hospital
i heard him crying for hours
he left because the doctors refused to give him a higher dose of pain medication.
he claimed he was being treated unfairly.
& being ignored

I did notice the nurses did not come to his aid when he called for help, but I understand they may have been busy with other patients
When the doctor did show up, he told him he wouldn’t give him a higher dose because that would take away from everyone else’s pain medication.

i have a reasonable excuse to get out of jury duty. they want me to fill out a form from my doctor. but its just a few questions. how would they know if i went to my doctor or if i filled it out myself?

i doubt they would call to verify. at the same time its kind of scary making fake form and turning it in to the county. What if they happen to check up on it. what do you guys think.

Academics are arguing that many people will soon be identifying as “digisexuals” and taking their sexual identity from having sex with robots.
While sex robots are currently quite primitive, a new report published in the Journal of Sexual and Relationship Therapy argues that before long they will be able to look, speak and act like real people - and will be specifically designed to fulfill a person’s desires.

The report’s authors, Neil McArthur and Markie L. C. Twist, from the University of Manitoba, Canada, argue that we need to be ready to deal with the phenomenon when it comes to fruition.
“There is no question, then, that sexbots are coming,” McArthur and Twist say. “Our view is that they will represent a different sort of sexual experience from what existing technologies offer. First of all, people will form an intense connection with their robot companions.”

They also say that digisexuality will have a positive impact, particularly for people who experienced sexual trauma in the past or for those who have difficulty forming human relationships.

However they warn that it will also bring a slew of difficulties and argue that doctors must be prepared to deal with digisexuality and have a framework for how to approach it.

Noel Sharkey of the Foundation for Responsible Robotics (FRR) recently argued against sex robots being used by the elderly in care homes.
They are being proposed for the elderly in care homes, which I think is controversial. If you have severe Alzheimer’s you can’t really tell the difference. We need to think about as a society what we want to do about it,” the researcher said.

“It’s very sad because it’s going to be a one-way relationship,” he continued. "If people bond with robots it’s very worrying. You are loving an artifact that can’t love you back, and the best they can do is fake it.”
