1. Get 8 Hours of Sleep

5 Bits of Health Advice People Routinely Ignore

So many people when told to get more sleep or that they would benefit from a full 8 hours, say, well I get by on 4 or 6 every night, and I'm fine, I can function. Yes that's true, you CAN function, but how well are you really functioning is the question? Just because you can move from A to B and keep your eyes open doesn't mean you're doing amazingly well. Sleep is essential for rest obviously, but also for helping to maintain your waistline, reduce stress, help restore or maintain your health, and for a better functioning brain throughout the day. You simply don't know just how well you can function if you've never tried to routinely get 8 hours of sleep.

2. Go for a Walk

Exercise is essential for maintaining proper bone health. Never listen to anyone who says, all you need is a good diet, because exercise should be also an essential part of everyone's life but the thing is, you don't need a gym to get adequate amounts of exercise. You just need to go for a walk, or a roll if you are handicapped, for at least 30 minutes a day, but preferably an hour. It doesn't even have to be one consecutive hour, but it can be 10 minutes in the morning, 10 at lunch, and 10 at night.

3. Avoid sick people

Someone will be actively coughing or sneezing, and people will be sitting next to them or having a conversation with them and then 2 days later, wonder why they are sick. I KNOW you cannot avoid every single person who is sick, especially if they are family, but even if someone covers their mouth or turns their head whilst coughing, they still have their germs on their hands and touch door handles and all it takes is a few droplets of a sneeze to get into your nose and mouth, and you're sick. Make for certain if you cannot avoid them, you are washing your hands and/or using hand sanitizer, and yes, if they are actively sick, sleeping in another area whilst they recover.

4. Don't avoid whole food groups

You will get tons of advice when you try to crack into a diet about avoiding all fat, or avoiding all meat (non-vegetarians), or avoiding all carbs, or whatever the new diet is...this week. You could be severely effecting your nutrition by just cold turkey cutting out a whole food group. The human body craves these things and needs these things...in moderation or just plain, needs them to survive. I'll say it again...in moderation. Three things. 1) It's better to learn to eat a little and not constantly be craving something or get to the point where you just binge because you have denied yourself every single food you love because it's "bad." 2) Don't cut out valuable nutritious food because some internet diet created by some dude, told you to based on zero research or knowledge on health. 3) Learn to make healthier options of so called "bad" food. If you love pizza, for example, try to make it with a whole wheat crust, fresh veg, lower sodium, and only use a little cheese.

5. See your doctor

The internet is not a doctor. I don't care how many YouTube videos you see on something you think you may have, it is not a substitute for actual medical care. I know it can be scary when you think something is wrong with you or you know something is, but waiting around to see if it will just go away can sometimes be a deadly gamble. You want to see your doctor to either tell you, what you have isn't actually cancer or to help prevent whatever it is you have from spreading or getting worse. Don't ask GaG, don't ask a friend, don't rely on some random telling you, you're fine. If you are worried about something, get yourself to the doctor as soon as possible.
