While the Wii is the 3rd best-selling home console of all-time (behind PS2 and PS1) and sold at a super fast rate, many hardcore gamers that preferred old school Nintendo consoles hated the Wii (because of how underpowered it was and the type of 3rd party support it was getting) and felt it was overrated. Other Hardcore gamers who aren't too harsh on any recent Nintendo game or consoles felt that the Wii was underrated due to how harsh other gamers (who are PS and Xbox fans) were on the console.

My opinion, while the Wii isn't my favorite Nintendo console, it still gave us great games like Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, No More Heroes and so on.

What are your thoughts on the Wii as a console?

This may sound like a crazy rant because I have had a fever for 6 days, my sleep schedule is totally whacked, and I am awake at 2 AM watching a home renovation program on TV.

Anyway, at the end of the show, the contractor is showing how he spent $130,000 of this couple's money and gave them some changes that weren't entirely what they wanted. But, of course, the couple is saying that the contractor was right and they are glad he did what he thought should be done instead of listening to them. Then, the husband says, "It's not just spending money to renovate a house; it's an investment in who we are."

Doesn't that quote sound cool? How intense! But. . . wait a minute! Just what the fuck does it mean? The house is who they are? Living in the house is who they are? If they had to move to a different house, they would be somebody else (like an episode on The Twilight Zone?) That smooth, slick sounding talk that really falls apart when you analyze it just drives me nuts. How many people fall for that drivel?

Even worse is the copy that we usually hear at least every 15 minutes in TV ads. Attorney ad: "We're on your side from beginning to end, so you know you've got the best representation!" Actually, hiring one of the TV lawyers doesn't guarantee that you've got the best and many of them are only marginally competent. Those attorneys spend money on slick advertising but they are far from the best.

Obviously, people who write ad copy or TV scripts count on you not listening closely and critically. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't listen closely and critically, especially if you are a member of the 99% of the population whose purchasing decisions are influenced by advertising, or whose political decisions are influenced by what you hear on the major media outlets.

So, are you listening closely? Are you listening carefully and actually evaluating the legitimacy of the claims being made. Do you become more skeptical every time you hear this kind of nonsense repeated?

If you haven't heard of "Black Mirror" it is sort of like a modern day "Twilight Zone", except that there is a focus on the technological advancement of humans and how that affects/could affect our society. If you're going to binge watch a season then prepare for your mind to be fucked with.

The "Shut Up and Dance" episode fucked me up. That twist at the end made the whole story fit together. That is what I like about Black Mirror - once you have watched an episode you can watch it again and notice all of these clues that point directly to the twist at the end.
