For me, I don't use certain terms for males or females unless I mean something specific by them. Some girls get offended when you call them "females," taking it as a sign of disrespect or misogyny, but that's really their own issues to deal with, in my opinion.

• A "dude" is just some young male I don't know but seems non-threatening and easy-going.
• A "boy" is any male under the age of 15, to me.
• A "young man" is usually a respectful male between 16 and 24, to me.
• A "man" has to prove himself as such and just because you're over a certain age doesn't make you a "man."
• A "male" in regards to people, is any non-female human of any age.
• A "douchebag" is any rude, ill-mannered, obnoxious, or trashy male.

• A "chick" is the female equivalent of a dude; young and light-hearted.
• A "girl" is any female between 18 and 30, to me, while a "teenage/young girl" is any female under 18.
• A "lady" is any female over 30 that is also dignified and respectful.
• A "woman" to me, is a female I don't know the name or face of, like a Jane Doe, so I don't like the term "woman" because it's too impersonal. Also, I just really dislike terms longer than one syllable, which is why "girl" is so much easier and rolls off the tongue.

• A "bitch" is any rude, ill-mannered, obnoxious, or trashy female. (Or cowardly, spineless, traitorous male.)
