I've been accepted by a top 5 university in the United Kingdom, it is top 2 tied with Oxford in my field. It is a one-year master's degree and 50 thousand dollars would cover EVERYTHING from education to food and flight tickets. I am from a country which has really low salaries so USD is more valuable for us than for the Americans, but with some reasonable loans and my part time job in UK my family could cover it.

Ok, this might not be true in terms of purely science based degrees, medicine or dentistry etc.

But in terms of degrees such as sociology, philosophy, primary/secondary education and in general ‘liberal arts’ degrees, I personally feel there’s an element of brainwashing there. The lecturers will often lecture on the most absurd things and have an obscure take on certain things - but expect that you take these beliefs on and allow them to ‘shape you’re thinking’.

I’m studying education because I want to make a difference in the lives of children. I’m grounded in reforming the system - because in my opinion it’s a complete shambles. Unfortunately though, around 80% of my class soak up the ridiculous ideas they are fed at university and actually can’t think like normal human beings anymore. I’m just surprised, students are some of the stupidest people I’ve ever met.

Maybe I’m just being cynical, but what do you think?
