I’ve known this person for a while and they’ve helped me. However, I have bad anxiety and health conditions and this person knows this.
This person just went overseas on a holiday when I needed them the most. They made the decision without consulting me or informing me. I know I can’t expect others to put their lives on hold but they didn’t ask if I was going to be alright without them for a short while.

This person also interrupts a lot when talking to me, dismisses my concern, tells me that I should not be friends with people whom they dislike

The person also just agrees with almost everything I say and they almost always never offer any sympathy or compassion to me in my current plight. They’re also extremely opinionated, they’ve been argumentative, haven’t apologised for poking fun at me and spoke to someone who caused me a lot of stress in my life. Now... is this person a bad or low quality person?

Think about it, when you tell someone to "be themselves", you're basically telling them to stay in their current state, even if it has bad sides to it, you're encouraging them to just stay stuck there.

Evolution is an essential part in our lives as humans, we should strive for change as long as it's good and productive, staying in one place and not changing is never good, we have to make the most of our time because it's precious.

Keep the good qualities, but replace other bad ones, replace weakness with strength, replace sensitivity with immunity, keep your sensitivity to the right people who won't use it against you, become more open and sociable, get out of your bubble and step out of your comfort zone, that's how evolving and becoming a better person is done!

We shouldn't tell people to be themselves, we'd be only hurting them, encouraging them to change would be much more helpful, as long as it's made clear that they have good qualities that should stay untouched.
