My boyfriend is 26, I am 19. We've been living together for 9 months and I don't believe the level of respect we have for each other is mutual. Lately, I've been catching him ogling (not just staring) at other women on his phone or TV. We were at a party one time and a pretty lady on a commercial popped up. He walked right over to the TV and started ogling right in front of me - our friends and I know him well enough that he wasn't interested in the commercial. He thinks I'm naive. I've confronted him about this issue. I told him he could ogle all he wanted as long as he was more private. He apologized and agreed.

But it still hurts to know that in my eyes, I choose to only see him. I can ogle if I wanted but I personally believe that if I chose to be in a committed relationship with this man, I should set my boundaries and show my respect - even when he's not around. I get that men love to look at pretty women and that looking doesn't always mean they're comparing or cheating. But I personally believe that if this ogling "habit" continues, it betters the chance for the man to be infatuated more easily with other women and lead to cheating.

People often ask why it's a bigger deal for men to stare at women but not vice versa... it's simple. Many men sexualize women. They look at her and imagine her naked, think of all the ways to fuck her. If women are not beautiful, society says they are undesireable, hence why many women are so sensitive about looks.
