First of all, me and my boyfriend have been together over 7 months and so far, the relationship is good despite arguing here and there few times. However, he does treat me right, he's there for me whenever I need him, and shows a lot of efforts and affection in our relationship. We have shown each other that we are serious about our relationship.
So anyway, a week ago I told him about how my whole family (parents, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins and their partners) are going to celebrate my grandmas 80th birthday this weekend and that my dad told me I could bring him along (Ive never introduced him or any of my exes to my parents). I told him "to be honest, I dont think its a good idea for you to meet them yet" and my boyfriend said "yeah true.. I dont feel comfortable yet too. I want to get a second job and move out to my own place first so I can feel more secure and can tell your parents comfortably about my situation"
And then he told me that he told his friends at work yesterday (mostly his boys) about this (how my dad wanted him to come along) and this is how he told me their conversations went:
Him: my gfs dad wants me to come to her grandmas bday
His boys: then? go!!
Him: my girlfriend said no though
His boys: wtf? why? is she even serious with you?
Him: yeh she is. and anyway i dont feel comfortable yet anyway. i need to be more secure before meeting her parents
His boys: so? just go.
What do you think of our situation? Why would he tell his friends about it? I mean he said he doesn't feel comfortable yet so why tell his friends? and why tell them I said no?

One of my good friends and I have had this chat a few times on our way back and forth from skiing. We are both in relationships that have predominantly been easy since day one... as in, we've never had trust or jealousy issues with our partners.. we don't fight about dumb shit or hurl personal insults when we do argue.. we get along with our partners without having to try. And we've both heard throughout our lives that relationships are "hard work". Well, we both think that's bullshit - and so do his girlfriend and my boyfriend.

Honestly, I think when you genuinely care for one another and you genuinely LIKE each other, it's not hard work at all to put the other person first, treat each other kindly, trust each other and build a life together. I think that if your relationship feels like work, you're in the wrong relationship. Being in the relationship I'm in has been one of the easiest things I've ever done.. and continues to be.
