So, I have this friend, late 30s. She's currently dating a guy approximately 12 years younger than her.

While they have a few things in common (they met at the gym), they don't seem to be a good match. She just separated from her husband a few months ago. She's a very beautiful, classy gal, into fitness and sports as well as theatre and arts. She's always been anti-drugs.

As for him, most would describe him as a pot-head (possibly other drugs), not the brightest, punk looking kid with some growing up to do. Some have described him as being a bit of a redneck and I know he's cheated on his last girlfriend.

So far, she's hiding/denying the relationship from our group of friends but they have been spotted together for the last month or 2 so it's obvious they're hooking up.

I'm just wondering, do women in these situations get into these relationships thinking he's the one or is this just a fling that will last a couple months? Is she thinking they can break the odds and make it work or is she in it for some short term fun?
