I recently saw the new film "Religulous", a documentary style film done by political comedian and commentator Bill Maher. I have questioned God's existence for a while. They jury was out until I saw this film with my girlfriend. The Verdict: I'm agnostic. Maher gives people like us that don't believe a name. We are the silent minority of "Rationalists". I could not find one instance in Maher's film where I disagreed with the questions he was presenting. Religious groups are nailing Maher for making this film. He's getting tons of hatemail from Christians, Muslims, and Jews alike. It was not suprising how angry these religious folks got when the existence of their God is brought into question. You don't plead a convincing case when your instinct is anger instead of openess to the questions and concerns of people like Maher and myself. Maher is right. Man has become arrogant as a result of our arrogant thinking that we have all the answers when in fact we don't. Before we figured out if there was a God, we figured out that Uranium can make a weapon that can kill millions. That is very scary. I will answer Maher's call to remain silent no longer. Your thoughts are welcome and I encourage dialogue between us.
