Search Results: acting different around friends

There is this guy in my grade and I really like him. He was told twice by other people, and then I told him and when I told him, he was just staring into my eyes for a bit of the time we were talking :) Ever since he found out, he goes a bit awkward/quiet around me, and I don't know why? A Few of his friends told me that I piss him off, annoy him and scare him but I don't know if that was legit. About a week or two ago, he asked my friend if I hated him and apparently he sounded like he was upset, and about to cry.

The thing is, he's always looking at me. We're constantly making eye contact whenever we're around each other, but he doesn't approach me. When we're in a big group, he doesn't talk to me, but when it's a few people or just us two, we talk and we have fun together. He'll also use this tone on me sometimes that I can't really describe but it sounds like he really cares. Today when I was at school, he was standing alone and he kept looking at my friends and I? What do you think? Does he like me? He doesn't want a relationship though, but he's generally not a shy guy so how he's acting with me is different.

I really don't know what to think, this happened over a couple of months; please any explanation of any of these actions would be so helpful, here are some signs:

-He glances at me often but it's quick glances, and I can never keep the eye contact for long because I feel nervous
-He sat next to me a few times
-It seems like he tries to get my attention, he will sometimes join a group conversation I'm in and say something funny
-He is usually around me
-He brushes his hair a lot around me
-When I catch him looking he will quickly turn away or start touching his hair
-He was giving something to me and I touched his hand and he seemed to start acting different
-He gets quiet sometimes when I'm around, and other times he will start talking louder
-Through a crowd I saw him once and he looked directly at me and smiled but I didn't know if he was smiling at me or not so I just turned away
-He started talking and laughing with a friend of mine and when I started leaving he looked right at me
-In a crowd I saw him look around the entire room and then when he saw me he turned away quickly
-When we were standing together in small group talking I tried to look into his eyes to see what color they were and he started looking at the floor and it seemed like his face turned red?
-When I was trying to get through a crowd out the door, I couldn't pass through and he started following my steps on purpose as if he were trying to block me from walking and I looked at him and laughed and then he looked right into my eyes and I walked out

But the thing is he never really talks to me directly, it's always with my group or he's always trying to get my attention by using other people around him or something. So I don't know what to think, I would assume if he was interested he would try and approach me? What do you think? Anything helps, please and thank you!
