Search Results: choosing death

Today you died and upon death you were given four choices:
1. Move on to whatever comes after death. The catch is it's a giant roulette wheel of afterlife options that's spun to decide your fate (including nothing, heaven, hell, reincarnation, or anything else you've heard of in your lifetime)
2. Go back into your same body and continue from where you left off as if you never died. (relatively healthy so like no more cancer or stuff if you died from anything like that)
3. Get a chance to redo your life from birth but you'll forget everything that you can't record on one sheet of average notebook paper by hand.
4. Go back to earth as a random new baby again with no memory at all but with a gaurantee to be born in a better or worse situation depending on your behavior in your previous life. And the judge of your behavior is your favorite fictional character.

I don't have any kids yet, so obviously I don't know what I'm talking about. But I can't help but feel that I would be more broken from losing a daughter than I would if I lost my son.

Don't get me wrong, I would be depressed like hell if I lost my son. But I would be destroyed if my daughter dies. I would think, “That's my little girl. I failed to protect her. She trusted me.” And it wouldn't matter if she was a baby or 30 years old. Wouldn't matter if I could have stopped it or if it was some type of incurable sickness. I need to save her from everything.

I know it's kinda fucked up to think like this, but I was just wondering if anyone else would, for the lack of a better term, favor one child over the other. I'm going to put the option of choosing both equally, but I want you to REALLY think about it. Who would you be more destroyed over losing? Your son or your daughter?
