Devon is 23 years old. he's a people's pleaser and always wants to be perfect and do the right thing. In middle school and high school his parents always pressured him to study, work and take extra classes after school. He had no friends, no girlfriend, and barely any hobbies because all he did was study, work, take tests and study extremely hard to get accepted into college. He left with a GPA of 3.7. He was extremely depressed about it and his dad told him he was an ugly failure. Devon hasn't cried since he was 9 years old because his parents told him men and boys are not supposed to cry and encouraged him to suppress his emotions and study hard for college. Devon often bottled up his emotions and pretended to be happy in public. His best friend died, dog died, he was bullied, failed tests, broke his arm, ruined his car but he did everything he could not to cry. His parents also made him join sports teams and beat him for cuddling and hugging another guy. Devon hated sports, he loved cooking, sewing and building things he wanted to make dresses but his parents said that was gay and disgusting. At 23 he graduated out of college with a Bachelor's degree and found out he was 189 thousand dollars in debt. Finally he had a mental breakdown. he screamed at the top of his lungs and sobbed/ screamed uncontrollably for four hours straight. He never felt so terrible and the pain was almost unreal. He couldn't talk for days and tried to overdose on pills. He was rushed to the hospital and his parents were horrified. Devon cried for another two hours, he never felt so terrible a day in his life. Devon also noticed he cried so hard that he used the bathroom on himself twice in front of doctors.

He couldn't get a job with the Bachelor's degree he had, so he moved in back with his parents and got a job working at Walmart making only 8 dollars an hour.

I'm in the UK and it is now currently 3.30am. Around 2am - 2.30am I'm sat watching TV with my boyfriend (who I live with). Then we get a knock on our door... obviously we are shitting ourselves thinking who on earth would be knocking on door at this time of the night. Asking each other if we were expecting anyone and both saying no. So we both went to the front door together shitting ourselves.

Opened the door to find a girl with short red hair, a bruised eye, wearing unmatched pj top and bottoms and sparkly silver flat shoes (in short, a state). She tells us she saw our lights on and heard us talking through window and figured we could help her. She opens her hand to what seemed like 3 white pills and one broken into dust all over her palm.

She said it was crack and she was having a bad trip. She seemed awake, alert, very talkative and very eager to get into my flat. I told her to stay on the front porch whilst I get her a drink of water. We asked what her name is and how old she is, said she's 26 and has 2 kids.
Then we asked her where she lived, apparently only down the road. She then straight asked if she could crash at my flat. My boyfriend said "I think you're better off going home and throw those drugs away".
But she still pushed, she asked if she could use the bathroom. We just told her if she needs toilet she only lives down the road.

Eventually she got that we weren't idiots letting a stranger stay in our home willingly.

Although I probably saved myself a whole lot of trouble turning her away, I still can't help but feel bad for doing so.
