The other night I kinda met someone. See, I was out at a club with two of my friends, a guy and a girl. I was only kinda buzzed, but somehow the girl got drunk as heck. Me and the guy are still trying to work out how, we think she might have taken something but she says she can't remember anything from that night. See she disappeared for about ten minutes and we went looking for her, and when we found her she was in the bathroom with some dude who was claiming she was alright. (as she was in and out of blacking out on the floor.) So the guy I was with went into action right away to help her, even kicking out the guy who was with our friend. The guy went away and went right for the dance floor. It was my first night at this club, and I didn't know what to do so I tried to help but kinda ended up just staying in the background. Then this other guy showed up who apparently knew the guy I was with, and realized what was going on like RIGHT away, he ended up standing there with me, and he was talking to me kinda like he was trying to look out for me? Because this club had a reputation of getting rowdy apparently. He had tried to go and help my friends, but our guy friend insisted he had it. But then that guy my female friend was with before came back and started getting all in my guy friends face, my friend shouted back, but they weren't getting violent. The guy who was standing next to me kinda leaned down and told me he was gonna step in if something started happening. Then he went and kinda stood near them but not close enough to hover. I know his name and everything, just didn't really wanna say it here.

But I tend to have a good sense about people, And I kinda like instantly trusted this dude. I'm not saying I'll go out with him alone or anything, but I might consider it if I meet up with him in a group again. Is this crazy and stupid?

would it have been helpful if the other person initiated it?

I'm new to my uni as a transfer student and so far haven't seen anyone I recognize from my high school or community college so I pretty much have a classroom full of strangers! I'm shy & reserved so I'm not sure how to make friends other than if my professor ever has a group project or something because the class is bigger than what I'm used to and I hardly recognize anyone each time in lecture since we seem to sit in different places.

So far I've only had guys as the classmates around me to talk to but they just discuss the answer and that's it. Only one guy asked my name and introduced himself and turned out to be a transfer student too but he's a bit older like late 20s/early 30s as opposed to me and the majority of the class being early 20s.

I feel like everyone already has friends from their freshman and sophomore year.. and I've never been the new kid at grade school so I don't know how to jump in with all these new kids. And I feel like no one wants to be bothered since they don't try to keep the convo going as I overhear others talking about off topic things after discussing their answer to the professor's questions.

And I feel a little foolish because on the first day this one guy was running late after going to the bathroom and I accidentally took his seat but he so nice about it and sat someplace else. He said don't worry about it since it's the first day. A week later I see him running late again and after class I was gonna offer him his notes til he walked up to some girl he knew and asked her... ahhh so awkward since I was right behind him and had to pass by and say excuse me to him and he didn't seem to remember me
