Search Results: good listening skills

So some people have said that if people enjoy something, they get skill in that area. Others say that it is vice versa and that you just need to get over a learning curve before you start enjoying something.

It's pretty much just a question of "Which comes first, the skill or the enjoyment of the activity?"

I have seen this happen with my practice of piano. I hated it when I was younger, but when I began to play instrumental music scores that I enjoyed listening to, I loved it.

Someone could say that I loved the music first and then got good at the piano, or you could say that I got the skill a piano first and then begin to enjoy it.

I honestly can't decide which one of these instances is more common in life. One could say that we hate the feeling of incompetence and activity; thus, we prefer doing the things that we are competent at. And then some would say that if we love something, we'll just naturally practice it out of enjoyment and then become skilled at it.

I'm not providing a 'both' option because I want to hear which one you seen more commonly in your life.

So which is it? Did you accumulate skill in the things that you love, or do you love the things that you're skilled at?
