I’ve been officially offered the vaccine in the current USA phase of vaccination due to being an education worker,

& so many thoughts are swirling in my head about whether to get it or not.

After hearing about my student teaching district will be returning to in-person teaching in a hybrid model,

I literally had an anxiety attack in the middle of the night, agonizing over the pros and cons of this.😞

There was no risk whatsoever doing my student teaching distanced learning, allowing me to simultaneously finish my schooling and bide time for the pandemic to pass.

Now there’s health risk on both sides no matter what I do!

On one hand, being around unvacccinated kids 4 days a week for several hours a day, when my state (California) and region (Sa Bernardino county) will be barely out of maximum risk rating for COVID cases for the first time in a year, without being vaccinated... sounds like a bad idea, especially living with someone that is high-risk.

On the other hand, this vaccine was rolled out EXTREMELY quickly, and there has been literally no time to test for long term side effects. Recalls and class action suits for bodily damages happen all the time years down the road in the medical field with medical products, and a situation like this rushed vaccine can easily be one of those cases.

So, this is a real-life thing happening to me now. I got offered a job I thought was going to be great, right as job season was winding down (the last two weeks out of six, in fact). But as it turns out, I won't be working in the city I thought I would be, and instead, would be out in the middle of Bumf*ck, Nowhere.

The recruiter had a miscommunication with me during the interview and after asking her about the location yesterday, she tried to say, "Oh, it's CLOSE to the city." Bullsh*t. 15 minutes by car with no traffic just to get to the city limits, and 45 minutes by bus is not "close" to me! I'm pissed off now because I feel deceived and was told the job would be in the city. Not forty-five-f*cking-minutes away, when I don't own a f*cking car! The city might as well be across the country, at that point.

I just finished a year at an awful job, in a city I hate, and don't want to sign another yearly contract to do that all over again. I'm not a native to this country, so my Visa is tied to whatever job I get, as well as my housing. If I don't take this job in the middle of ass-end nowhere (a town in Korea called Guri, which is the aforementioned minutes away from Seoul), I risk being in a hostel indefinitely until my Visa runs out at the end of the year, then having to go back home to the US, and deal with a potential Biden administration, which is even worse than being homeless.

I'm not getting younger and don't want to spend ANOTHER year doing crap I hate in a town I hate with nothing to do there. But since hiring season is pretty much over until March now, not taking the job means potentially not getting another one. So what would you do?
