Search Results: being rejected because of looks

I'm Mexican-American who's racially a quarter Yaqui Native American (discovered this on my recently through my DNA ancestry test results and searched through a marriage and baptism record inside a church in a small town in Sonora, Mexico where my parents are originally from) and I realized how people like myself have to have certain racial identities forced on me depending on how I look or my blood quantium. For instance, if I tell Native Americans here in the US that I'm a quarter Yaqui, they'll think I'm bullshitting them for the sake of wanting free "Native American benefits" since some of them believe only Native Americans born and raised in the US should fully or partially identify as Native American, as if my parents being originally from Mexico cancels out my Native American-ness or the Native American-ness of the Yaquis who are from Northern Mexico (The Yaqui tribe expands from Arizona to Northern Mexico).

Also, I hate how the US Census forces Mexicans who clearly look racially Indigenous to check as White since checking off as "Native American" would only cause confusion from both sides and force the people who identify as American Indian, to remember which tribe or nation they are, even though Mexico had a long history of trying to make pure Indigenous people to assimilate to the Spanish European culture and forget their origins, which ended up making fully Indigenous Mexicans classified as "Mestizos", despite being pure-blooded, because they don't speak their Indigenous language anymore.

I also get Whites from both the US and in Latin America telling me I either shouldn't identify take pride of any of my European ancestry (Spanish, some Italian, or Southern European in general) since I'm not fully White European (I'm only 61% European according to my DNA ancestry results) or that I should I identify as "White" and reject all of my other ancestry (as if they're some disease that should be washed away or that only White Europeans accomplished civilization).
