I’m starting college in a few days and I have a fear that I might overdress because I heard that most people wear jeans and a tee or leggings and a hoodie. I on the other hand, like to dress up but I don’t know if the way I dress would be considered overdressed or make it look like I’m trying too hard. I’ll give a summary of the kinds of outfits I normally wear:
-Basic solid coloured tee or turtleneck tucked into straight leg jeans, heeled doc martens, matching belt, and matching jewelry (a necklace or bracelet)
-tight fitted solid top (not revealing) with soft pants/paper bag style/palazzo pants, and neutral block heels (small heel) or leather sneakers, and maybe some dainty jewellery
-dressier top or blouse with jeans/jeggings, and Chelsea boots

I don’t overdo my makeup or hair, I just keep my hair in its natural wave, and for makeup I just wear tinted moisturizer, blush, brow pencil, mascara, tinted lip balm, and maybe some thin eyeliner.

Does my style seem too over the top for college?

1. I am wearing a black swim skirt and black tankini under a turquoise cover up. I want to know if this can pass as clothing, or if it looks slutty or inappropriate. I’m not so concerned if you like it, Just is it “ ok” to wear. Just to the park and Outdoor music, after. Nothing at all fancy.

2. I would really appreciate it if anyone has special knowledge of tights and can suggest a style and or color that would not look tacky with this. And actually with any casual skirt in general. I’m not ready to go bare but it’s a summer night. I really don’t want to wear leggings or jeans or cargo pants or a long dress. I find these physically constricting... While I don’t physically mind tights, I’m not sure how to make them work, aesthetically.

These clothing pieces are bold, chic and oozing confidence, and sure, the style can be over the top at times. This fashion sense is more high maintenance, expensive looking, trendy and you won't catch this girl ever wearing sneakers.

B: This style is all about a casual wardrobe consistent of classics which is all about sneakers, skinny jeans, t-shirts or form fitting tops without cleavage. This style is much more casual, sporty and ''girl next door'' which is low maintenance. You won't see this girl wearing sky high heels or tight fitting dresses unless attending a formal event that's suited for it.
