So in the beginning he reaasured me and told me he wanted to be apart of my mess, said we can work through anything. didn't give up so easily when i told him i dont think i was ready for a relationship. He still wanted to talk. He told me when he's leaving or there at his destination. On our first date he didn't break eye contact with me and smiled a lot.
He offered me to drive his car the first date, would give me his keys whenever we were in his car. Would wanna know when im home. Told me he loved me on the third date. He brought me a care package when we couldnt see each other. He was really patient and told me he loved me everyday. He was willing to buy me random things, brought my family chocolate. Bought my family and i an expensive item. We would video call for hours almost every day of the relationship. Near the end he wasn't putting much effort into the relationship. Even though we were no longer together he still wanted to know when i got home after he broke up with me.

I have known this guy my whole life. His mum has been friends with my nan since before we were both born so we are family friends. He is 24 and I am 20. We lost contact for a bit over the years but reconnected properly 2 and a half years ago and both told eachother that we had a crush on the other when we were growing up. Since then we have spoken often but never dated. We go through the same cycle of saying we like eachother and want to make it "official" but he always comes up with something afterwards like "i have commitment issues", "I'm not ready for a relationship" or "I don't know how my mum would react". We meet up every few months and usually end up being intimate then he ghosts for weeks or months. We have a good laugh when we are together and it could be amazing if we saw eachother more often. He got out of a very physically abusive relationship with a girl where he had to get a restraining order, so I always use that as the reason he might be scared to commit. I met his mum recently which seemed like a big step cause I didn't see her for the 2 and a half years we were talking and she is the most important person in his life, but I still feel like I am getting mixed signals from him. Don't know whether it is time to move on or whether I might be getting somewhere.

So I'm a part of a college Christian youth group and I'm worried that one of the guys in that group likes me. At first I just had a hunch because of eye contact and his body language, but I didn't want to be narcissistic, so I just brushed it off and convinced myself I was imagining things or overthinking him just trying to be nice. In the past week, he has made an effort to go out of his way to be nice or chivalrous to me on many occasions. Even to the point of waiting for me to drive off first so that I would lead the way. In our group chat on messenger he reacts to every single one of my messages, even when it's mainly girls just sending hearts. He doesn't do this to anyone else. And he doesn't pay as much attention to anyone else either. For a few reasons, he is not and will never be attractive to me (I don't mean this physically). He is not a person that I could ever see myself with. In our church people don't really date unless they're looking to eventually find the right one to marry and think the person they're about to date might be them. We don't just date for fun or cause it feels nice to have a boyfriend or girlfriend. So it's pretty serious when you have a guy show any interest. I'm totally freaking out because (1) he's 24, I'm 19... it's not creepy, but he's ready for marriage, I'm not. (2) I have about 4 more years of school ahead of me before I want to marry so that means I probably wouldn't be dating anyone for another two years. (3 ) I'm interested in someone else... Who, yes doesn't know or probably like me back, but I would never be able to even consider feelings for someone else while I still like him. (4) one of my close friends likes him, and if she found out she'd be devastated. (5) I don't want this to get dramatic and explode in our group. I don't want people to find out and cause more issues. (6) I don't want to hurt him, just because I don't like him that way, doesn't mean I don't have a soul or that I don't care.
