You and her start talking randomly and after a few weeks you feel that when you talk with her you feel so comfortable and you feel like you've met someone who is likely to be The One. You and her have similar tastes and interests and you both think alike, speak alike etc

So... This happened to a male friend of mine this past week. A long time female friend of his was messed up on weed, cocaine, and alcohol. She cut her wrist sideways and send him pictures and video of her bleeding quite a bit. (I won't post them here as they are painfully graphic)

My friend spent hours trying to track down her family or get her to tell him where she was. Turns out she was already with her disreputable cousins who very likely got her drugged up in the first place. His main worry is that she has a child and is doing this.

How would you react? Another male friend said he would have joked that she did it wrong. I would have called 911 and had her dragged off for a psych eval and 24 hour hold and likely never spoken to her again.

Honestly, I don't know the correct answer to this. I've known self harmers, but I've never had one try to drag me into their mess. Has anyone successfully helped one? I'm under the impression that it's a control issue. Have you been a cutter who's been helped by someone?
