My crush has been trying to get me to even have a conversation with him, but I've been avoiding him because I don't want to get my hopes up only to find out that he finds me worthless. There are 7 reasons why I think us being a couple is impossible.

1. I established a horrible impression with a joke that ended up sounding like I was making murder seem casual, and it made his friends uncomfortable and prompted him to tell a sad story about one of his friends
2. He uses pot as a crutch, I'm against drugs
3. I have humiliated myself in front of him multiple times, displaying anxiety, awkwardness, boringness, incompetence, bad leadership, etc
4. I'm socially awkward and introverted, and he seems sad at my reaction to him and I once overheard him say he feels bad that he makes me uncomfortable
5. We share the same religious beliefs but he's less serious about it and that could cause conflict later on
6. His ex girlfriend is literally perfect and he was head over heels loyal to her for two years, and he also has a female childhood friend who I think likes him
7. Overall our personalities and goals are quite different and I'm scared I would bore him or we'd have communication issues

In spite of this, he still comes and tries to talk to me or make me laugh, accepts my quirks and cares about me. Do you think I should try to talk to him, or are the odds just against us?
