I find it amazing how so many NFL fans whine when their favorite team ties a game like it is a huge blow to them and their pride. It's as if they rather loss than tie. I was discussing this a few weeks ago with a hard core 49ers fan at a football forum whose team lose with 4 seconds left in overtime because their coach didn't manage the last minutes right and gave Russell Wilson a minute 25 seconds to set up a potential game winning field goal, rather than punting it to them with about 20 seconds had they managed it right should the 49ers had failed to reach field goal range with a winning shot. He said he hated they lost to the Seahawks but had their coach not had so much pride, the 49ers would be 10-0-1 rather than 10-1.

Instead of handling their team's tie like a real man or a real woman, people seem to like complaining about the rule's mathematical probability of a tie, which is around 1 in 400. I don't understand the bitterness towards ties. Do you? People don't seem to understand that 9-6-1 is better than 9-7 but worse than 10-6. It's not a matter of opinion. It's objectively true that a tie is mathematically 1/2 win and 1/2 loss. People always assume the game is won. You must earn your win and not just fall into a win. The NFL does it right by embarrassing their butts for neither team not finding a way to win. These are pro football superstar athletes. You either get the job done and win or get embarrassed with a tie or loss. A tie is a fairer result rather than forcing wins when not earned.

A tie is a legitimate result and is earned. Just like wins are earned and not given by default, so are ties earned. Why can't people shake hands realizing that neither team was the better team? I can take my tie like a real man. My Falcons haven't had a tie since 2002 but I am able to handle it and not whine like a wuss about it. Answer these 2 questions:

1. Do you understand WIN > TIE > LOSS

2. What shame is there in acknowledging neither team was better?

When someone posts a question and the body of the post consists entirely of a video, I rarely watch it. Some of the videos posted are 15-20 minutes long! If you are too lazy to actually write about your question, then it can't be important enough for me to spend the time watching the video. If you write something, maybe you will pique my interest, but if you don't. . . forget about it!
