Here's a list of theories about why people laugh when someone trips/falls. It can be tricky to figure out why exactly it's funny, so determine by finding trends with other things that you find funny. For example, if you typically laugh at unexpected things in general, it might be the "incongruity" theory.

1) Incongruity
Laughing because someone unexpectedly falls over is linked to incongruity (randomness). This term is used to describe why we laugh at things that convey ambiguity, logical impossibility, and inappropriateness. For example, it’s comical when we see clowns wear large shoes or when people have especially large noses.

2) False Alarm Theory
The laughter might be to alert others in the social group that the detected anomaly is trivial, nothing to worry about.

3) a huge portion of the stuff we find funny contains two elements:
1. Shock.
2. Safety.
Our laughter is a release of tension, a way of saying, "Don't worry. It looks bad, but it's actually not."

4) We are trying to make the other person feel better by demonstrating that we are aware of their plight. Humor is a great way to relieve social tension. It gives the person who tripped a chance to negate the embarrassment of the accident by joining in with the laughter and therefore reinforce group ties."

5) Schadenfreude & Asserting Superiority
Schadenfreude is the taking pleasure in the misfortune of others, which may stem from being thankful that it's not yourself who has been put in same the compromising situation. Some research has shown makes us "look better to ourselves".
The burst of laughter directly following someone’s misfortune can be an extension of feeling a “sudden glory.” Laughing at someone’s pain or public ridicule could be a way of belittling others

The following actions have occurred since Trump was elected. And yes, I tried to find something positive.

1. Travel bans on those from certain countries even if they were here legally, had no police record, and were leaving the US to visit their home country. Trump claimed the reason was to protect America from terrorism. The conspiracy theory is that the ban had nothing to do with the actual countries themselves, but the religious culture identification many of their residents have: Muslim. A Judge ultimately blocked the decision.



2. Claims Obama wiretapped Trump Towers. This allegation has recently been declared false.

3. Obamacare being slowly dismantled. While many were excited about it in January while Trump signed the first executive order against Obama, the reviews of the new plan proposed have received a majority of negative reviews.

4. Claimed Hillary Clinton only won the popular vote because millions of illegal immigrants were allowed to vote. This was after he was declared the President Elect.

5. Nominated several people to positions, such as Ben Carson for Secretary for Housing and Urban Development and Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education, for which they have no relevant experience. Carson admitted he is unqualified for the position.

6. Reversed Obama's order, and allowed for the building of the DAPL pipeline.


7. Currently in the process of reserving an office in the White House for first daughter Ivanka as an informal adviser. She is not being hired as a government employee as it is illegal.

8. Signs executive order approving the construction of a 1,900-mile long wall along the southern border with Mexico, using existing federal funds to get it started.

9. Signs executive order defunding Planned Parenthood. They can keep their funding if they get rid of abortions.

10. Declares the media to be the enemy of Americans.
