I am in my mid twenties and feel very alone in life. I am not very close with my family. My dog recently passed away. I have no friends. Only one person speaks to me that I’ve met from online and we’ve been speaking back to back for a few years. I’ve never been in a real relationship and am single too. I just feel so unwanted and like something is terribly wrong with me due to the lack of relationships in my life and bullying I’ve experienced in the past from “family” and “friends”.

Before I rant, I’ll begin by stating that I’ve come to the point where I doubt my physical appearance in every aspect, as if I wonder if I am actually attractive. I’m in my mid twenties. I’m now curvy and told I’m attractive. Yet, I’m always single. I cannot find a man. I see girls talk about how they bump into their SO and it all falls into place. This was never my reality. Guys don’t ever notice me. Online dating is where I get attention and I don’t count that because that’s where everyone can get it. Not to mention, I have gone on dates but it never works out. I don’t have a way to meet people in person since I have no friends. If a woman is attractive, her dating options are endless and that’s not how it is for me. If I do get spoken to in person, it’s by a weird guy in public or someone I typically would never pursue. In HS, guys that gave me the time of day didn’t even go to the sane school as me and were never my type. That’s the way it always is. Why am I so unlucky?

So I’ve been single for pretty much my entire life. And I’m in my mid twenties. I didn’t think I was attractive until I lost weight and took an interest in improving my physical appearance. However, I’m complimented on how I look, before and after losing weight, which tells me that I can’t be that ugly if people give me decent feedback. When I told a few people that I was single (after they asked), it either resulted in: a) they’re assuming I’m picky and am single by choice or b) feeling sorry for me and blaming the guys for not noticing me. I don't know what to say. I don’t have any friends so going out and meeting people is out of the question. Wherever I work, most of the men are married. Which is why I have a dating profile to possibly meet people but it hasn’t worked out well. The guys that message me I don’t like and some that seemed hopeful generally end up either no longer messaging me or I lose interest. What’s the issue here?

So I’ve heard of women that speak of getting asked out in HS and having guys pretty much come to them without even trying. And they have a lot of friends. All throughout school, I was very reserved and I don’t think people liked me very much. In HS, was never asked out and didn’t have any close friendships. I only ever got attention from weird or nerdy guys. And they weren’t even in my HS, they were friends with people I knew and went to other schools. As a woman in her early twenties currently, not much has changed at all. I only get attention from guys you wouldn’t ideally pursue, don’t have any friends and still single. I was chubbier in school so I’ve lost weight to feel better about myself and still not much attention. I only get “approached” on dating apps and we know how that goes 😞

I’ve only been in one short term relationship and am ALWAYS SINGLE. I’ve had a few people ask my relationship status and they either assume I’m taken or wonder why I still am. They believe it’s because I’m picky. I don’t really have a social life and very reserved. I have a very hard time trusting people and I know I’m going to be stuck single due to my trust issues and lack of friendships (also trust issues). I’ve never encountered a guy of my preference and the guys I would date typically don’t show interest in me either. So I don't know if I’m aiming out of my league or just have a boring personality 🙄

So I’ve only been in one short term relationship, if you’d like to call it that. I’m in my early twenties. I’ve been complimented by a decent amount of people, not solely family members or girlfriends. However, I’m always single. Yes, I’m very introverted and don’t go out often, but, all of the female friends I used to have seemed to have a lot of suitors and I didn’t. The only time I got attention was from men I did not particularly find attractive. Yes, I’d like to fall in love one day but I don’t think I’m ever going to find a guy worth settling for.
