Personally, I think society's logic when dealing with the topic of suicide is very counterintuitive. Let's talk about the facts for a minute. Suicide is mostly a religious debate, however our world is becoming more and more materialistic and faithless. I find the way people think about this subject to be hypocritical and disgusting. When we actually lose someone it's a terrible tragedy, but when that person is alive we tell them to suck it up. We live in a competitive society that is quick to dispose of people that don't have the skills or mental health to survive. Are these people really better off being locked up and doomed to a life of misery? Is someone who struggles to afford basic necessities like food or shelter really better off taking up space in a world they are unhappy living in? There are far more pros than cons to suicide. Pros: The population would stabilize more, prisons would be less crowded, the economy would improve, and the people that actually want to live would enjoy a higher quality of life. Not to mention, if suicide was acceptable, perhaps people would actually be more considerate of mental health. Cons: A handful of people that most likely don't struggle with finances, work, poverty, or depression would be sad for a couple of weeks. There exist suicide machines which can kill you painlessly. These are used for terminally ill patients to give them a peaceful death, and are equipped with escape switches in case the person changes his or her mind. Does anyone else agree people should have a right to die?

Girl power: One of America's most recognizable board games is getting an upgrade. Hasbro brings gender pay gap debate to game night with new Ms. Monopoly.

Instead of investing in real estate properties like the classic game, players invest in inventions and innovations made by women.

The twist? In Ms. Monopoly, female players will get more money.

Unlike the classic game, women will collect 240 Monopoly bucks when they pass "go," while male players will collect the usual 200. The idea is to create a game where women make more than men.

It's "a fun new take on the game that creates a world where women have an advantage often enjoyed by men," the company said in a statement. "But don't worry, if men play their cards right, they can make more money too."


"With all of the things surrounding female empowerment, it felt right to bring this to Monopoly in a fresh new way," Jen Boswinkel said. “It’s giving the topic some relevancy to everyone playing it that everybody gets a turn, and this time women get an advantage at the start.”

My friend and I are still debating a topic with no end in sight. She is a Passionate debater while I'm trying to get her to see both sides as a Peace Maker of sorts. Still I've reread everything she's written and it just shows me she is incapable of compromise. Each time I make a valid point she tries to bring the conversation back to the beginning. I haven't given up on the topic as I value her as a friend and if friends can't see eye to eye what hope does the rest of the world have at solving things. Though it has inspired me to ask the question so I consider it another small win for me.

When it comes to debating Controversial Topics what kind of person are you?

Pick whatever topic you find to be the most controversial in your mind and imagine debating it with a valued friend. You try and keep it civil for the most part but understand that this topic generates a lot of "passion" from both sides. No matter what you and your friend argue about, you find you can not come to a middle ground or a positive solution for either side of the argument to end it. Leaving both you and your friend extremely disappointed in each other to the point of possibly ending the friendship then and there.

Still you really value your friendship with them and their opinions on everything else. You just can't see eye to eye on this one issue. So the question then becomes: Could you stay friends with someone who has a completely different opinion than you on a controversial topic?
